Time is running out to get free support if you run an independent business.

We’re helping businesses across North Somerset get back on their feet after the pandemic by offering free support through the Welcome Back North Somerset scheme.

If you run an independent business you can sign-up for expert advice on a range of subjects, including staff recruitment, attracting new customers, increasing sales revenue and driving forward strategies and plans.

Registration closes on Monday 31 January so fill in the survey online to find out if you’re eligible and join.

You could also be in with the chance of winning a two-night stay for two people in the Cotswolds, or a luxury hamper of locally produced toiletries.

There are only 120 spaces left so sign up soon. If you’re not sure whether your business is eligible, call Josyanne on 07919 546 448 to find out.

Communities benefitting from funding

Communities across North Somerset are also benefitting from the Welcome Back North Somerset scheme.

Town and parish councils are receiving £100,000 to organise events, bring people into their towns and villages, and help local independent businesses.

  • Banwell Parish Council was awarded £5,700 to organise and run a Christmas market. More than 200 people attended the event, which took place earlier this month. It was so popular it’s hoped to become an annual event.
  • Blagdon Parish Council is using its £5,100 funding to organise two lantern making workshops in February, with help from local community organisation Blagseay. A new bench, picnic table, litter bin, noticeboard and car park sign have also been purchased with the money.
  • Clevedon Business Improvement District is arranging a number of events in the town. For details go online or follow them on Facebook
  • Congresbury Parish Council received £10,800 to organise a Christmas street fair, which took place earlier this month. About 300 people enjoyed the entertainment on offer. The money was also used to buy temporary street furniture such as gazebos, tables, benches and lighting.

We’ve also used some of the funding for marketing campaigns to encourage footfall to Weston-super-Mare’s town centre, as well as providing Covid-19 support to local businesses.

A series of films were made including The Opening and Summer Time. More activity is planned for early next year.

This scheme has been funded by the Welcome Back Fund financed by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
